The host nation Cameroon πŸ‡¨πŸ‡² maintained their unbeaten run in the tournament on Monday. They finished as group leaders with seven points after three matches. The Indomitable Lions took the lead when Captain Vincent Aboubakar drilled home his fifth goal of the tournament after 39 minutes.

He drilled a low shot into the back of the net after connecting with Harold Moukoudi’s pass. The 29 year old has now scored 5 goals in the first 3 matches of AFCON 2021.

Eight minutes after halftime, substitute Garry Rodrigues drew Cape Verde πŸ‡¨πŸ‡» level with an exceptional back heel. Despite the efforts from the hosts, they could not find the goal to secure all three points as Cape Verde held on for a well-deserved point.

Ethiopia πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Ή was shown the exit door after a 1-1 draw against Burkina Faso πŸ‡§πŸ‡« . Cyrille Bayala opened the scoring for Burkina Faso in the 24th minute.

Bayala’s goal was cancelled out by a penalty where Ethiopian striker Getaneh Kebede scored. This earned his side their only point of the tournament. Burkina Faso will face the runners up in Group C in the next stage.
