Arsenal have reportedly agreed a deal with FC Porto for the signing of attacking midfielder, Fabio Vieira. The Gunners are on the hunt for midfield additions, and have reportedly identified Vieira as the key man to provide cover for the likes of Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka.
Vieira is regarded as one of Portugal’s most exciting midfield prospects as he helped Porto to the Primeira Liga title in 2021/22 by notching an impressive 14 assists. The 22-year-old has also captained Portugal at a youth level.
Vieira has filled in on both wings for Portugal but played the vast majority of his minutes in a central role, similar to that in which Martin Odegaard shone for Arsenal last season. His stellar season with Porto caught the eye of Europe’s elite, and many believe Vieira is on his way to stardom. Thus, it appears that Arsenal may have a gem in their hands.
Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus is also high on Arteta’s wish list, while Inter’s Lautaro Martinez and Everton’s Richarlison have both been scouted.
