Davido on Saturday afternoon announced that he will be donating money that he received from his fans and fellow celebrities in honor of his birthday to orphanages across Nigeria.
The singer jokingly took to Twitter earlier on in the week asking anyone who loves his music to send him money in celebration of his birthday and his faithful fans and friends obliged.
He received $608,660 in less than two days as he was receiving individual donations of up to $2,434.640.
He has since released a statement on social media stating that he will donate the funds to orphanages across Nigeria and will even make a personal donation of $121,732 bringing the grand total to $608,660.
He has also appointed a committee that will oversee the distribution of the funds.
“The committee will compile a list of orphanages across Nigeria. They will determine the number of children and their needs across all orphanages,” read the statement.

According to the statement, Davido plans on having a fundraiser annually in celebration of his birthday as well as helping the needy.
