Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed emphasized the importance of self-sufficiency during the inauguration ceremony, stating, “Ethiopia, as a large nation, must ensure a smooth generational transition while strengthening its self-sufficiency. Although there were previous attempts to manufacture bullets domestically, the country relied on imports until three years ago.”

“Now, Ethiopia has developed the capability to produce ammunition locally and even export it. It is encouraging to see these advancements, as they contribute to building a fully capable and well-equipped national defense force. Beyond defense, a nation must also be able to produce its own food, clothing, and medicine to achieve true self-reliance.”
