FOOTBALL CLUBS SHOW SUPPORT FOR UKRAINE

Football clubs have shown their solidarity with Ukraine following their invasion by Russia this week, with fans from across the top-flight offering their support to the Eastern European nation. 

The actions of Russia have received widespread condemnation, with an outpouring of support for Ukraine and their people. Across the weekend, various Premier League clubs offered gestures of unity to the nation.

MANCHESTER UNITED VS WATFORD

Manchester United and Watford players came together to call for peace in Ukraine ahead of their Premier League match at Old Trafford.

Both clubs had been tight-lipped about any gestures ahead of kick-off but there could be no denying the message sent by the players as they came onto the pitch for kick-off. City wore shirts with Ukraine’s flag front and center, accompanied by the words ‘NO WAR’; each Everton player came out draped in a Ukraine flag.

WESTHAM VS WOLVES

West Ham players warmed up in tops with Yarmolenko’s name on the back to show their support, while screens outside the ground had his picture and were accompanied by the message: “Sending love and prayers to Andriy Yarmolenko and the people of Ukraine”

PSG AND SAINT-ETIENNE SHOW SOLIDARITY IN FRANCE

Paris Saint-Germain hosted Saint-Etienne on Sunday. Both teams came together before kick-off to show support for those in Ukraine.

SOLIDARITY WITH UKRAINE SHOWN AT EFL CARABAO CUP FINAL

Blue and yellow colors flooded the Wembley stadium as the teams headed out onto the pitch for the Carabao Cup final. “Football stands together” was shown on the screens and a minute’s applause took place prior to the singing of the England national anthem.
