Starting January 2025, Ghana will join the ranks of Rwanda, Seychelles, The Gambia, and Benin by offering visa-free entry to all African passport holders. This progressive move signifies a substantial step toward African integration and the promotion of free movement across the continent.
Historically, Ghana has been relatively welcoming to its African neighbors, granting visa-free access to citizens of 26 African nations. Additionally, travelers from 25 other African countries have been able to obtain a visa upon arrival. However, the new policy represents a significant expansion of this hospitality, aiming to foster greater unity and collaboration among African nations.
The visa-free policy aligns with the objectives of the African Union (AU) Agenda 2063, which envisions an integrated, prosperous, and peaceful Africa.
