Manchester City goal machine Erling Haaland has set a new Premier League record. He became the fastest player to reach 20 Premier League goals in just 14 games after he bagged a brace in Man City’s 3-1 win at Leeds. Haaland scored twice in the second half, in the 51st and 64th minutes, following two assists from Jack Grealish.

Haaland’s double was enough to haul City back into second place as they leapfrogged Newcastle but also moved to within five points of Arsenal. Prior to Haaland, Kevin Phillips had held the record of being the quickest player to score 20 EPL goals. Phillips needed 21 games to score the first 20 goals of his Premier League career with Sunderland in the 1999/2000 season.

No player has ever scored 40 goals in a Premier League season (Alan Shearer and Andy Cole share the record with 34 goals in a season), but Haaland is on track to do it.
