Kenyan civil servants have only 13 days to receive Covid-19 jabs or face unnamed disciplinary measures.
In a memo on Tuesday, the head of public service in the nation said the directive follows low uptake of Covid jabs by people in the public service particularly teachers and those in security.
The public service boss Joseph Kinyua said some civil servants were intentionally avoiding Covid-19 jabs so that they can be away from work.
He added that the trend had severely affected the delivery of services in Kenya.
By the end of the day on Tuesday, Kenya had recorded over 600 new Covid-19 cases, raising the total number of confirmed cases to about 213,000 in the wake of Covid-19.
By the end of last week, the state said over 1.7 million AstraZeneca vaccines had been administered with the majority being dose one.
Kenya aims at vaccinating some 10 million people before 2022.
