Senegalese born, Italian Tik Tok sensation Khaby Lame, has officially become the world’s most followed person on TikTok with over 142.5 million followers.

The 22-year-old silent comedian has surpassed Charli D’Amelio, an American dancer who held the record since 2020 with over 142.2 million followers.

Lame began posting on TikTok back in 2020 after he was laid off work due to the Covid-19 pandemic. He worked as a machine operator in a factory.

Losing his job caused him to move back to his parents’ home in Turin, Italy as he was unemployed. Little did he know that unemployment would be a blessing in disguise.

He started off by posting TikToks of him watching videos, dancing and trying out the app’s filters.  He did not garner a lot of likes up until one moment when one of his videos went viral.

In November 2020, Lame posted a video of him finding a simpler solution to a life hack which many would consider helpful. His hand gesture and facial expression was a game changer for him as the video quickly became a hit around the globe.

After a few months of consistent postings of him giving silent solutions to people’s life hacks, he then became the most followed person in Italy.

Lame has since garnered a lot of success and has partnered with notable brands such as Hugo Boss and has collaborated with soccer team Juventus F.C.
