As part of the counter-offensive by Kyiv, Russian authorities announced that they would “evacuate” tens of thousands more civilians from the Russian-occupied southern Ukrainian region of Kherson.

Ukrainian presidential adviser Oleksiy Arestovych described Monday’s bombardment as “one of the most massive shellings against our territory by the army of the Russian Federation“.

As a result of the strikes, Kyiv was plunged into darkness overnight, with only cars’ lights providing illumination.

The powerful explosions near Kyiv woke up Mila Ryabova, 39, on Monday morning.

In her report, Ryabova recounts how she and her family were “worried and discussing the possibility of moving abroad due to the cold winter ahead. We may not be able to access electricity or heat supply.”

Shelling on Monday left 80 percent of the capital’s residents without water and 350,000 homes without electricity.

Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, announced on Tuesday that the water supply and electricity supply were “fully restored”.

According to Klitschko, there would still be power cuts in the city “due to the considerable deficit in the power system after the barbaric attacks of the aggressor”.

As a result, Ukrainian energy company Ukrenergo is limiting supplies to all consumers in the center and north of the country in order to “reduce the pressure on the network”.
