Atletico Madrid have reached an agreement with Barcelona to sign forward Memphis Depay on a permanent deal this month. The Madrid and Catalan sides have agreed on a deal worth approximately €3 million, and Depay just has to complete his medicals.
The 28-year-old has fallen out of favor in Catalonia since the summer additions of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha and has also been plagued by injuries this season.
Depay has only featured four times for Barcelona in all competitions, scoring once, and has battled to restore his spot in the first squad under Xavi.
Earlier this month, Xavi declared that he wants Depay to stay at the club, telling reporters: “Nobody should be leaving. Memphis can assist us in the attack. He will be significant, and he will be given minutes.”
However, it appears that the Netherlands international is about to leave Barcelona, just 18 months after joining the club on a free transfer from Lyon.
