A recent survey by LonLyf, a London-based lifestyle research company, has uncovered a surprising revelation: over 75% of men report feeling more loyal to their barbers than to their romantic partners. The survey, conducted between September 2024 and January 2025, highlights the enduring loyalty men have for their barbers, often spanning many years or even decades.
The findings show that 60% of participants have remained with the same barber for at least five years, with some still visiting their childhood barbers. In fact, a few men even admitted to traveling back to their old neighborhoods just to maintain their relationship with a trusted barber.
Switching barbers is not just an inconvenience for many men; it’s an unsettling experience. About 45% of those surveyed avoid trying new barbers because they dislike the repetitive task of explaining their preferred haircut style. Meanwhile, 30% of respondents expressed a lack of trust in anyone else, fearing the disastrous outcome of a poor trim.

Hygiene also plays a significant role in this loyalty. Around 25% of respondents expressed concerns about hygiene standards at unfamiliar barbershops, preferring to stick with a trusted barber to avoid potential health risks. For many men, their barber isn’t just about achieving the perfect fade, it’s about personal well-being.
The study concludes that while romantic relationships may come and go, the bond between a man and his barber remains a constant. Built on trust, consistency, and an unspoken understanding, this relationship is often one of the few that endures over time.
This survey sheds light on the unique loyalty dynamics that influence men’s grooming habits, proving that for many, a great barber is irreplaceable.
