American singer Tory Lanez’s fans and family members have come together and created an online appeal in order for them to get his guilty verdict appealed by the court after he was sentenced to a maximum of 22 years in prison for shooting rapper Meghan Thee Stallion.
The appeal which is on Change.org, has over 40,000 signatures already and is set to be the most signed appeal if it gets to 50,000 signatures, which seems like it will happen soon.
The appeal, states that Tory’s conviction was rushed, based off of drunken memories and lacked sufficient evidence.
“Reasonable doubt loomed over a 10-day trial as the prosecution was unable to show us that there were not alternative explanations of the events. A circus of speculation, insufficient evidence, inconsistencies, and drunken memories left us without much moral certainty of any truth,” read the petition.
The petition also claims that the case had a couple of flaws including; Tory’s DNA was not found on the gun and that the other potential suspects did not undergo a DNA test, making the verdict unjust as Tory whose real name is Daystar Peterson, had pleaded not guilty to the charges, Tory’s driver who was his witness did not get the opportunity to take the stand and two jurors got replaced mid-way.
“The justice system failed him!! This means they failed his son, his parents and people who want to believe in the justice system. This is not about if you like Megan, nor about how you feel about what happened that night. It is only about the evidence that was presented.”
The petition also believes that Jay-Z could be in on Tory’s persecution, stating that the case was about branding, marketing, label heads and a music industry that pushes narratives based on who they have personally invested millions into.
Megan, revealed that Tory shot her five times in the feet after they attended Kylie Jenner’s party in Hollywood Hills back in 2020. According to her, an argument ensued between her and Lanez before he pulled out a gun and shot her.
