UGANDA CONFIRMS AN OUTBREAK OF EBOLA VIRUS DISEASE IN MUBENDE DISTRICT

An Ebola outbreak has been verified in central Uganda 🇺🇬 with the death of a 24-year-old infected male. According to the health minister, the victim showed signs of the illness before passing away. He was a local of Ngabano village in Mubende district, which is around 147 kilometers (91 miles) from Kampala, the country’s capital.

The Uganda Virus Research Institute has verified a case of the very uncommon Sudan strain, according to a statement from the World Health Organization (WHO).

Eight persons with suspected symptoms are reportedly seeking medical attention, and personnel is being dispatched to the region in question.

The last breakout of the strain in the nation of East Africa was recorded in 2012. According to Dr. Matshidiso Moeti, WHO regional director for Africa, “action has been taken to quickly to detect the virus and we can bank on this knowledge to halt the spread of infections thanks to its [Uganda] expertise.”

Teams from the ministry of health, Uganda have been sent to the Mubende District to improve monitoring and public awareness. The general population is encouraged to exercise caution and composure as teams take the appropriate steps. Uganda has expressed its confidence in having stellar experience in handling such outbreaks and epidemics of this nature.
