VANESSA MDEE OPENS UP ABOUT POSTPARTUM DEPRESSION

Tanzanian singer and TV personality Vanessa Mdee took to social media to open up about her sad experience with postpartum depression after giving birth to her baby Seven.

The 33-year-old shared a snippet video on her Instagram urging other women who have experienced postpartum depression to speak out and end the stigma around it. 

“A lot of people don’t know the struggles of postpartum depression and what it’s like being a new mom. Y’all know that I’ve had my struggles with depression, I think it’s something that needs to be talked about more. Even when you have the support of a great partner,” said Vanessa.

Vanessa also revealed that she wants to share her postpartum depression journey with the world and has invited people to walk with her in her and her fiancé Rotimi’s new app ‘For TheBetter Me’ which is a wellness app.

It is no secret that the new mother had been dealing with depression in the past but only came out in 2019 to share about it dabbing that she struggled with alcoholism.

She revealed that the music industry steered her into the wrong path and for that reason she wanted to hit pause on making new music in order to get on a new path and discover herself.

“I drank myself to sleep every night. I am not proud of it but it is my truth and I know there are people who need to hear this. I was lying to people around me to cover up and to keep the facade alive,” she narrated.
