“LeGyandary”, a book detailing the life and career of Ghana’s all-time leading goal scorer, Asamoah Gyan, has been launched in Accra. Gyan is the first Ghanaian footballer to document his career in a book. Gyan revealed that his goal was to inspire a future generation with his story.
President Nana Akufo-Addo, Members of Parliament, ministers, diplomats, business leaders, a number of the country’s former and current footballers, and fans of the former Black Stars captain attended the launch, which took place at the Kempinski Hotel in Accra.
Gyan broke down in tears while acknowledging his elder brother, Baffour Gyan, who played a pivotal role in his football career.
“My brother is key, he is the one behind my success. Sometimes criticisms come, people blame him for him being a bad influence or something but they don’t know what he has done behind the scenes and this is what makes the book very interesting.”
