Zambian 🇿🇲 President Hakainde Hichilema has commissioned the 65-million dollar state of the art conference centre named after founding President and late Pan Africanist Kenneth Kaunda.

It has has been described as a marvel which is worth every penny to most stakeholders. The new conference centre, just adjacent to Mulungushi International Conference Centre, was constructed in anticipation of The African Union (AU) mid-term coordinating conference which is to be hosted in the Southern African Country on July 2nd this year.

The state of the art infrusture built by China Jingxu International, is a 24-square metre masterpiece with a 2,500-seat conference hall, one 600-seat medium meeting room, one 400-seat multi-function hall and 60-seat group meeting rooms.

It also boasts of of five VIP rooms, office area, exhibition area, press centre, emergency medical centre, service area and auxiliary facilities.

Commissioning the newly built infrastructure on Tuesday, President Hichilema said the quality of the facility is far better than others who have spent over 300-million dollars bringing value for money.

The president emphasised the need for all government agencies and quasi government institutions to work towards standardization of contract values for similar projects.

President Hichilema further stated that the Kenneth Kaunda Conference Center will make Zambia become a hub for conferences as his government strives to attract more conferences in a bid to grow the economy and create jobs.

Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Du Xiahui said the building will provide Zambia an ideal venue for key conference while enhancing the country’s national image.

Meanwhile China Jiangxi International General Manager Wang ShuIi said his company worked hard amidst the out break of COVID 19 in order to deliver the project in good time for the AU sumit scheduled for next month.
