JENNIFER HUDSON BECOMES YOUNGEST PERSON TO ACHIEVE EGOT STATUS

Singer, actress and producer Jennifer Hudson, has officially become the youngest person in history to bag awards in every prestigious ceremony; Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award (EGOT).

The 40-year-old mother of one achieved her status last weekend after she bagged a trophy at the 75th annual Tony Awards for producing ‘A Strange Loop’. 

She has now joined 16 other people with the EGOT status and is the third black EGOT winner and the fifth woman to have such a title.

Hudson won her EGOT at the 2007 Oscars for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Effie White in the film Dream Girls.

She then scooped a Grammy Award for her debut album in 2009 and part of The Color Purple winning Best Musical Theater Album in 2017.

In 2021, Hudson scored an Emmy Award for Outstanding Interactive Media For A Daytime Program as an executive producer on the animated film Baba Yaga in 2021.

The multi-talented superstar rose to fame back in 2004 after she made it to the finals of the popular singing competition show, American Idol.

Hudson since shared her excitement on social media, thanking everyone for their support on her journey and encouraging everyone to place their faith in God.

“Wow !!! I am overwhelmed by all the outpouring of love and support that I am Still receiving and I’m still processing this whole new ground . What an honor ! Thank u all for being with me on this journey. I could not live this life without u. Like I said when I won my Oscar , look what God can do. Well He did it again,” she wrote.

Hudson is set to premier her first daytime talk show, ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show’ on 12 September, which also happens to be her birthday.
