Black Panther director Ryan Coogler was detained by the Atlanta police after he went to a bank and asked the teller to withdraw $12,000 in cash from his own checking account in an incident that took place in January but has just come to light.

Coogler who was at the Bank of America wrote a note to the cashier which read that he wanted to withdraw money and does not want it to be counted as he wanted to be discreet.

“I would like to withdraw $12,000 cash from my checking account. Please do the money counter somewhere else. I’d like to be discreet,” read the note.

The cashier allegedly asked for all of his documents to verify his identity but failed to check his name and instead opted to talk to her manager about the situation who then asked her to dial 911.

In the leaked 911 phone conversation, the operator is heard asking if Coogler is a black man to which the cashier affirms that he is. The 911 operator who seems to side with Coogler on wanting to be discreet tells the cashier that she will send the police.

“He might just wanna be discreet, but I have police around,” said the 911 operator.

Coogler was then arrested for attempted robbery and after the cops fully investigated the situation, they released him stating that it was just a huge mistake.
