Divine Nshuti Muheto, 19, was crowned Miss Rwanda 2022 at a glamorous grand finale held Saturday, March 19, at Rusororo’s Intare Conference Arena.
The beauty queen, a high school graduate, won the crown after beating out Maolithia Keza and Darina Kayumba, who finished first and second, respectively.
Muheto, who represented Western Province in auditions and also won Miss Popularity, and is the first non-Kigali contestant to win the title since Liliane Iradukunda in 2018.
“I feel happy, blessed, and grateful,” she said after winning the crown. And I’d like to thank everyone who helped me along the way.”

Miss Rwanda 2022 received a brand new car – Hyundai Venue offered by Hyundai Rwanda – and will receive a monthly facilitation from the Miss Rwanda organization during her reign, among many other perks from the organizers’ partners.
She will also receive financial assistance from Africa Improved Foods (AIF) Rwanda for her ‘beauty with a purpose’ project.
Another notable winner is Jeannette Uwimana, who was the first person with a disability to compete for Miss Rwanda since the organization’s inception in 1993, and whose project was named the ‘Most Innovative Project.’
Her pig farming project will be fully funded by Bank of Kigali, and she will also serve as the bank’s brand ambassador for the next 12 months.
