Jamaican dancehall artist Dexta Daps’ Bahamas valentines weekend concert has been cancelled over Covid-19 spread concerns.

Daps was set to perform in Nassau and Freeport but did not get a nod of approval from the Ministry of Health (MOH).  A statement was released by Clayvon Duncombe, the event promoter where he assured fans that they would get fully reimbursed.

“A Reggae Valentine’s concert featuring Dexta Daps that was scheduled for this weekend in Nassau and Freeport has been denied approval from MOH [Ministry of Health],” Duncombe said.

Adding, “It’s with great regret that we inform the public that the concert will not be held. All ticket holders will receive a full refund.”

Daps however has tried his very best to not disappoint his fans as he made an application to perform in the Bahamas twice.

However, he has been discouraged by the MOH from applying again because his request will most likely be turned down.

The Minister of Health and Wellness Dr. Michael Darville revealed that hospitals in the Bahamas are under a tremendous strain and that they are trying to control the spread of the virus. One of the ways which they are doing so is by not allowing large gatherings to take place.

“Our hospitals are still under tremendous strain and it is imperative for us to get our schools open fully,” said Darville.

“The science is clear that large gatherings…are high risk for community spread, and so we must protect the country,” he added.
