For one youth, David Ndebu, depression was birthed by a toxic working environment. It took him way over a month to notice that he was constantly sad and lonely. Sometimes, we never know that we are depressed.
Depression (major depressive disorder) is defined as a common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. Fortunately, it is also treatable.
The American Psychiatric Association (APA) says that depression causes feelings of sadness and/or a loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed. It can also lead to a variety of emotional and physical problems and can decrease your ability to function at work and at home.
