NIGERIA’S BURNA BOY BECOMES FIRST AFRICAN TO HIT 200 MILLION ON BOOMPLAY

Nigeria’s musical extraordinaire Burna Boy, has officially garnered over 200,000,000 streams on music streaming app Boomplay and is the first African to do so.

The Grammy winner keeps breaking his own records as he was the first Boomplay artist to hit over 100 million views just last year.

The ‘Kilometer’ artist received his plaque from Boomplay’s Director of Artist and Media Relations, Tosin Sorinola who described the moment as epochal.

“This is another iconic feat for Burna Boy, Boomplay and the entire African music industry,” said Sorinola.

“This achievement shows that fans in Africa are fast catching up to the digitization of music and streaming, which Boomplay is championing. With this development, artistes can earn even more on our platform. Burna Boy is a massively talented singer whose works will continue to affect people positively across Africa and the rest of the world,” she added.

Burna Boy has been nominated for yet another Grammy award this year and the whole world is rooting for the ‘African Giant’ as he continues to put Africa on a high pedestal.
