Liverpool cruised to a 2-0 victory over Leicester in the Premier League to bring the gap to leaders Manchester City back to nine points with a game in hand.

Liverpool were not at their fluid best but proved too much for a Leicester side lacking in confidence and unable to pose any real threat to the Liverpool goal.

Leicester, who were without their talisman Jamie Vardy, looked toothless going forward. The ever-reliable Diogo Jota popped up in the right spot twice and made no mistake in front of goal. His creativity and clinical finishing made Liverpool walk away with all three points.

The former Wolves-man has quickly become an important figure at Anfield and will be a key player for Liverpool in the final stages of the season.

Diogo Jota has now scored 17 goals across all competitions for Liverpool this season; already his most in a single campaign while playing for a Premier League club.

Liverpool are yet to lose a game this season when Thiago and Fabinho have started together in the center of the park.

The pair was phenomenal again against Leicester, breaking up attacks and dictating the tempo either from deep or further up the field. Thiago, a player who is considered flashy with the eye for a killer pass, was exemplary in his defensive duties tracking back and breaking up Leicester’s playtime and time again.

Part of this Liverpool team’s success is the high defensive line that leads to unrelenting attacks, giving their opponents few opportunities.
