American based Canadian singer The Weeknd has officially become the world’s first artist to win the Global Digital Single Award two years in a row following his record ‘Save Your Tears’.
His first song to top the charts was ‘Blinding Lights’ which was number one in 2020. The song has managed to stay on the top ten list up to date ranking currently at number 7.
The Weekend keeps breaking his own records as ‘Save Your Tears’ has managed to perform better than ‘Blinding Lights’ by selling more world-wide records.
The award was presented to him by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) for having the world’s best-selling record of the year across all platforms.
“It has been another brilliant year for The Weeknd and Save Your Tears has unquestionably been one of the world’s most loved songs,” Francis Moore, the Chief Executive of IFPI said.
“We’d like to send huge congratulations to The Weeknd and all of his team on winning our Global Digital Single of The Year Award for the second year in a row – an incredible achievement.”
