Marcus Garvey created the “Back to Africa” Movement and is regarded as the first person of colour to create a Mass Movement to promote the destiny of the people of Africa.

During the 1920s Garvey made frequent references to the future crowning of a king in Africa. In his teachings, he urged those of the African diaspora to not only return to Africa but to also “Look to Africa, when a black king shall be crowned. That prophecy was realised with the crowning of the last Emperor of Ethiopia “Haile Selassie.”
