Gabonese international striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has left Arsenal by mutual consent.

He has moved to Barcelona on a free transfer. Aubameyang hadn’t featured for Arsenal since December following a disciplinary breach. He left Arsenal after he was removed as club captain and frozen out of the first team by Mikel Arteta.

Aubameyang has been training with Barcelona already and the Spanish club hope to unveil the player on an 18-month contract along with fellow new signing Adama Traore.

A statement from Arsenal read – “Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has left the club by mutual agreement. Auba joined us from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018 and won the premier league Golden Boot in his first full season 2018/19. He scored both goals in the 2020 FA cup final win over Chelsea, and scored again at Wembley as we won the FA community shield against Liverpool at the start of last season.”

Aubameyang scored an impressive 92 goals In 163 games for Arsenal. He was part of the Gabon squad at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon but missed the first two games with coronavirus before being sent home after medical staff said they had detected cardiac lesions.

We wish him the best of luck at the Nou Camp. He’s got a Europa League double header with Napoli on the horizon and will be tasked with helping Xavi’s side close the 15 point gap on league leaders Real Madrid.
