Santos temporarily added a crown above their badge in 2019 to commemorate Pele’s 79th birthday, but it was removed at the end of the season. This time, the change has been written into the club’s Articles of Incorporation, which means the crown will be an official component of the club badge, and it can also be applied to older versions if a retro crest is used on their shirts in the future. The change will be permanent and is a homage to Pele, who many consider the greatest footballer of all time.
