Rapper Da Brat has revealed that she is pregnant with her first baby, at 48. The ‘Funkdafied’ rapper and her wife Jesseca “Judy” Harris-Dupart made the announcement via People Magazine on Tuesday.
After tying the knot in February last year, the couple decided that they wanted a baby who they could share and Jesseca revealed that she wanted Da Brat to have the experience, since she already has children of her own.
“When I met my wife here, I started looking at life so differently, like I was just like, I want a little me with you,” said Da Brat.
The 48-year-old revealed that she thought that the time for her to have children had already passed as she had lived a full and happy life.
“I just thought it wasn’t in the cards for me. I’ve had a great career, a full life. I felt like, because I didn’t get pregnant earlier on, then it just wasn’t going to happen for me,” she said.
However, the journey to getting pregnant was not smooth for Da Brat as she had lost a baby before her current pregnancy. She also went under the knife to remove fibroids and polyps prior to the embryo transfer procedure.
Da Brat is now 18 weeks pregnant and reveals that she is very excited about the next chapter of her life. Her pregnancy journey according to her has been interesting and she has no cravings or nausea but she is extremely emotional and sleepy.
