Ramon Abbas, better known on social media as Hushpuppi, has been sentenced to 11 years behind bars for engaging in multi-million-dollar scamming activities.

The Instagram influencer has also been ordered to pay $1.7 million by United States District Judge Otis D. Wright II in restitution to two fraud victims.

The Instagram star was arrested back in 2020 at the United Arab Emirates where the Dubai police force raided his home. His Instagram which he used to flaunt his lavish lifestyle went mute ever since up until recently when it was completely taken down by the Instagram team who revealed that they do not condone users who go against their community guidelines.

We do not want anyone to use our apps to defraud or exploit people, and we have clear rules against fraudulent activity – including money laundering.”

Since his arrest, Ramos revealed in a hand written letter to the judge, that he has had time to reflect on his actions and added that he let greed taint his good name as well as his family’s.

“Your honor, I make no excuse for my actions and I take full responsibility for what I’ve done,” he wrote in his letter. “If I could turn back the hand of time, I would make an entirely different decision and be more careful in the choices and friends I make,” read the letter.
