Soul music singer and performer, Irene Clara, best known for her hit song, ‘What a Feeling’, has passed on in her Florida home at the age of 63.
The Academy Award winner’s publicist, Judith Moose, shared the tragic news on Twitter on Saturday morning.
“It with profound sadness that on behalf of her family I announce the passing of Irene Cara. The Academy Award winning actress, singer, song writer and producer passed away in her Florida home,” read the statement.
The cause of Irene’s death is unknown but Moose promises to disclose the information once it is available. As of now, she asks that fans give her family some privacy as the mourn the loss of Irene, who she describes as ‘a beautifully gifted soul.’
Irene’s funeral is currently being planned and fans will get the opportunity to say their final goodbye as there will be a memorial that will be planned at a future date.
Irene’s ‘What a Feeling’, was featured in the 1980 film ‘Fame’, she won a Grammy and an Oscar award for the hit song.
