Jamaican artiste Siccaturie Alcock better known as Jah Cure has been sentenced to six years in prison for attempted manslaughter after he stabbed his promoter in Netherlands.

Cure has been serving time in a Netherlands prison ever since the vicious act took place back in October 21st at the Dam Square which is in the heart of Netherlands.

Cure who pleaded not guilty, claims that he was defending himself. However, details have surfaced that he stabbed Nicardo ‘Papa’ Blake following an argument that transpired about money. Cure had performed at a concert that was organized by Bake two days before the incident.

The act however saw Blake undergo surgery as the knife ran deep inside him. The prosecutor dismissed Cure’s self-defense claims terming it as ‘unbelievable’ and even went on to propose an 8-year jail term for the artiste right after producing a series of texts that showed Cure threatening Blake.

Cure’s manager Nathan Cowan who should have handled all issues in regards to money with the promoter has gone radio silent and has refused to speak on the issue.

According to Sean Edwards of Contractor Music Group, all artistes should travel with their managers when they are performing. “Jah Cure did not go on the road with a manager, and because of that, he ended up dealing with the promoters himself. Now, as an artiste, you are not supposed to be dealing with the promoter, your manager is supposed to do that. So, if there is any problem, or any money short, you won’t have to deal with that personally,” said Edwards.

Cure has an open window to appeal to the court but his legal team revealed that they first have to discuss the possibility with him. This is not the first time the 43-year-old has been to jail as he was convicted back in 1999 for rape.
