The jury has finally come to a decision and decided to side with Johnny Depp in the defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard.
Depp who was suing Amber and seeking $50 million for tainting his name and making him seem like a violent man who beats women was instead awarded $10 million in compensation damages and $5 million punitive damages.
Amber did not walk away empty handed either as she also received $2 million in compensation charged but was not awarded any cash for punitive charges.
Depp was not present when the jury gave their final verdict as sources close to the actor revealed that he was away for work purposes. Amber however, was present during that moment.
She revealed that she was disappointed with the verdict seeing as she presented a good amount of evidence against him but it was not enough.
“I’m even more disappointed with what this verdict means for other women. It is a setback. It sets back the clock to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out could be publicly shamed and humiliated. It sets back the time to when violence could be taken seriously,” she said.
Johnny also released a statement thanking his legal team and his fans for sticking by him. He also encouraged people who are going through similar situations to never lose hope.
