Legendary Kenyan DJ Peter Chuani better known as DJ Pinye has given his two cents on why most Kenyan artistes are not successful. He has pointed out that they want shortcuts.

The spin master in a discourse with local outlet Standard digital gave props to Tanzanian singer Diamond Platnumz for being the only outstanding African artiste, according to him.

He also added that he wishes a Kenyan could do what Diamond does, referring to his work ethic.

“I meet artistes both young and old and they do not want to work they want shortcuts.”

Adding, “I am sorry to say this but someone needs to come here and do what Diamond is doing. There is no one here whose work ethic is close to what Diamond Platnumz has. Most artistes lack discipline. It’s easier to mentor a younger person because the older ones are always fighting back,” he said.

Pinye also gave credits to Bien Baraza, a member of famous Kenyan group, Sauti Sol. He praised him for having excellent lyrical skills and for giving the world good quality music.

“The individual who composes the best verses to date is Bien of Sauti Sol, not the Wamlambez gang,” said Pinye.
