Kenya’s Capital Fm  DJ and producer Alex Murimi alias DJ Lithium died on Wednesday evening minutes after being rushed to the Nairobi Hospital. He had collapsed at work.

According to reports, Lithium committed suicide by consuming poison at the radio station’s offices in Nairobi city.

It is said that the DJ was found lying unconscious by his colleagues who tried resuscitating him with no success. He was then rushed to hospital in an ambulance but was pronounced dead on arrival. The police have since launched an investigation.

Before his death, Lithium left a suicide note which his colleagues revealed will only be opened by his family members.

Capital FM’s Programmes Director, Danny Munyi , paid tribute to Lithium citing that he was a great addition to the team. He added that he encompassed great talent as a DJ and had a great sense of humour.

“To honour him, we will celebrate him for the passion he had for this company, his direct breakfast team, his fellow mixmasters and cherish the moments we shared with him,” said Munyi.

The radio station has called on the masses to afford Lithium’s family privacy during this trying time as they mourn the loss of their loved one.
