Kenyan entrepreneur and singer Esther Akoth Kokeyo, alias Akothee has revealed that she has enrolled in university to pursue a degree.
The 41-year-old mother of five made the revelation on her Instagram stating that she is doing so to make her mother proud. Akothee who dropped out of school and got married instead is now terming her new chapter in life as ‘education at menopause.’
“When I was supposed to be in school, I decided to be a wife. Now instead of being a wife, I am now in school at old age, this life has no balance at all. But I must attain my degree for my mom,” she said.
It is unclear what course she is pursuing or what school she enrolled in but she is determined to get her degree as she wakes up as early at 4:30 am in the morning to prepare for school.
Akothee is now pursuing a degree alongside her daughter Vesha Okello who is also currently in university pursuing her second degree. She earned her first degree in 2020 where she took a course in commerce.
“Life doesn’t come with a manual, it comes with another @veshashaillan keep your head high above the world’s expectations. No one has plans for you better have plans for yourself. People see the value in you and that’s what’s attractive about success,” said Akothee.
This is not the first time the ‘Give It to Me’ singer has gone back to school, she went back to high school in 2004 to attain her secondary school certificate and she earned a C+ grade. @veshashaillan @akotheekenya
