A year after he was suspended from playing for Manchester United when his girlfriend accused him of attempted rape, controlling behavior and assault, posting disturbing images on social media, Mason Greenwood has been cleared of all charges.
The Manchester United forward, who was suspended indefinitely by the Premier League club once the accusations came to light, was initially arrested in January 2022 before being released on bail.
Once considered a crown jewel in Manchester United’s developmental system, Greenwood has not participated in any club activities since the accusations first arose.
Nike also terminated its sponsorship agreement with Greenwood. Electronic Arts also confirmed his removal from active squads on its FIFA 22 game following his arrest.
The striker does still remain under contract at united despite the suspension, and had been included in the under-21 section of their squad at the beginning of the current season.
