Neymar is set to miss the rest of the season after being ruled out for up to four months due to injury by PSG. The Brazil forward was stretchered off with an ankle injury during PSG’s clash with Lille in February. He has not played since and will now undergo likely season-ending surgery in Doha.
It brings a bitterly disappointing end to what had been a stellar individual campaign for Neymar. The Brazilian racked up 18 goals and 17 assists in 29 games across all competitions but it now appears he will not have the chance to add to that.
PSG are eight points clear at the top of the table as they seek an 11th French top-flight title. They take on German side Bayern Munich in the Champions League round of 16 second leg on Wednesday looking to overturn a 1-0 deficit from the first fixture.
