The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Nigeria arrested Ugochukwu Emmanuel Ekwem, the General Overseer of Christ Living Hope Church, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja, Lagos, with 54 sticks of drugs wrapped around his body while on his way to a three-week crusade in Nairobi, Kenya.

The preacher, who has a church headquarters in Isuaniocha, Mgbakwu road, Awka, Awka North LGA, Anambra state, and two other branches in Lagos and Abuja, was arrested on March 7 during the outward clearing of passengers on an Ethiopian Airlines aircraft from Addis Ababa to Nairobi.

“Throughout the preliminary questioning, the priest admitted to packing that amount of illicit material on his body to utilize during his three-week crusade in Kenya.”

“On the same day, another traveler, Nnakeanyi Chukwuka King, was intercepted during the inward screening of passengers at the MMIA’s E-Arrival Hall after arriving on an Ethiopian Airlines flight from Sao Paulo, Brazil through Addis Ababa.”
