Manchester United have a chance to end their six-year wait for a trophy as they beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 at Old Trafford to book a place in the EFL final. United last won a trophy in 2017 and they are looking to end the club’s worst trophy drought.

Forest battled hard at Old Trafford but conceded twice in four minutes late in the second half. Goals from Anthony Martial and Fred decided the game, bumping up an already comfortable aggregate lead from the first leg to 5-0, setting up a clash with Newcastle on February 26 at Wembley Stadium.

Both of United’s goals were assisted by Marcus Rashford, who had started the game on the bench. Rashford’s two assists have taken the England international’s tally to 18 goal involvements in his last 15 appearances in the competition – scoring 12 and assisting six.

The United academy graduate has found a new lease of life this season under Ten Hag and continues to be a stellar asset.
