Serena Williams will be recognized as a fashion icon at the upcoming FIT Gala. The 23 Grand Slam winner will receive the Fashion Icon Breakthrough Award at the gala schedule to take place on April 13.
Serena will be awarded for an array of accomplishments, which include launching her own clothing line, investing in companies that value diversity, and collaborating with Signet Jewelers to create her own line of jewellery.
The tennis champion has turned heads on and off the court for her daring looks that celebrate her personal swag and eye for style.
“We are so proud to recognize these outstanding leaders –– women who have made a profound impact in their respective industries spanning fashion, beauty, sports and entertainment,” Dr. Joyce Brown, FIT President said in a statement.
The annual FIT Gala helps support the FIT Foundation that in turns supports the next generation of fashion students.
