It is no secret that in the hip-hop community, rap beefs are a common thing to prove who is truly the best, Nicki Minaj is no stranger to rap beef as she has had over five different battles. Here is a list of all the people the queen has not seen eye to eye with.
Onika Tanya Maraj, known professionally as Nicki Minaj, was signed to Young Money Entertainment back in 2009 by rapper Lil Wayne. She released hit songs and featured in bangers such as ‘Bed Rock’ and ‘Roger That’ alongside other Young Money members.
Nicki’s popularity began to grow as she topped charts and dropped her first album, ‘Pink Friday’. However, her massive success did not sit well with everyone and she found herself in rap beefs every now and then. Here is a list of the people Nicki has beefed with:
1. Remy Ma– Nicki Minaj reportedly dissed the Terror Squad rapper in her 2007 track ‘Dirty Money’ which is a sample of Terror Squad’s song ‘Yeah Yeah Yeah’. In the verse Nicki raps; “”Tell that bitch with the crown to run it like Chris Brown”.
However, Remy was not having it and she clapped back with a 7-minute diss track titled ‘ShETHER’ where she accused Nicki of getting plastic surgery and infidelity.
2. Lil Kim– the rapper came out with strong accusations on radio stating that Nicki stole her sound and style. Nicki Minaj quickly retaliated by dissing her in a couple of tracks off of her ‘Pink Friday’ album. Kim also quickly dropped an album in response to the diss tracks titled ‘Black Friday’.
3. Iggy Azalea– in 2016, while accepting the BET Award for Best Female Hip-hop Artiste, Nicki stated that whenever she is on a track, she wrote the bars herself. The rapper insinuated that Iggy had used a ghost writer for her hit song ‘Fancy’.
According to Nicki, she did so because she believes that women can write their own music and that regardless, she has publicly congratulated Iggy on her success for Fancy. Iggy responded letting Nicki know that she is unbothered with everything.
4. Cardi B– This is definitely one of the biggest rap beefs in history. It all began when Nicki Minaj liked a tweet from a fan who was dissing Cardi’s verse back in 2017. Then ‘Motorsport’ which featured both Nicki and Cardi was released and Cardi revealed that Nicki’s lines had to be changed as she referred to Cardi as a quarter back and her son.
Nicki came out to reveal that she was hurt by Cardi’s words. Things seemed to be fine between the two as they were photographed together at the Met Gala. However, they got into a physical altercation at the Harper’s Bazaar Icons Party, where Cardi accused Nicki of speaking ill about her daughter Kulture Kiari and Cardi left the premises with a ripped dress, no shoes and a knot on her head.
From that moment they have beefed back and forth on social media with Nicki responding on her podcast, Queen Radio.
5. Taylor Swift– in 2015, Nicki Minaj tweeted her disappointment after failing to be nominated for MTV’s Music Video of The Year category. Taylor who was the only female nominated in that category, responded accusing Nicki of putting women against each other.
Nicki quickly cleared the air and let everyone know that she was not referencing Taylor. The two then made peace with each other.
6. Miley Cyrus– while weighing in on the Taylor and Nicki beef, the ‘Wrecking Ball’ singer stated that Nicki was ‘not too kind’. Nicki definitely did not take her words lightly and while receiving her MTV award, she called Miley out.
“Now, back to this b*tch that had a lot to say about me the other day in the press, Miley what’s good?”
Miley defended herself letting Nicki know that the press tends to manipulate situations and that she should know that.
7. Mariah Carey– the two were judges and American Idol and Mariah allegedly stated that she does not think Nicki is an ideal judge since she does not sing. Nicki was since caught on camera verbally slamming Mariah for her comment.
8. Latto- this is Nicki’s most recent beef, which was sparked online after Nicki called out Latto for not speaking up after Nicki’s chart-topping song ‘Super Freaky Girl’ was nominated for the pop category instead of rap in the 2023 Grammy Awards. Nicki also added that Latto’s song ‘Big Energy’ sounds similar to hers and so it should also be in the pop category instead of rap.
Things escalated between them and Latto stated that she feels bullied by Nicki who turns 40 in December, calling her a ’40-year-old bully’. The two did not see eye to eye as they both dropped receipts of their conversations.
