ALEC BALDWIN ‘FIRED PROP’ GUN THAT KILLED CINEMATOGRAPHER

SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO- Actor Alec Baldwin discharged a prop gun on set of the upcoming film “Rust” on October 21st, killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins 42, and injuring director Joel Souza 48, in an on-set incident, in Santa Fe,New Mexico.

Hutchins was transported by helicopter to the University New Mexico Hospital, where she was pronounced dead by medical personnel.

Souza was transported via ambulance to Christus St. Vincent’s Hospital where he sustained minor injuries and has been released.

Baldwin was told the gun was “Cold”, indicating that it didn’t contain ammunition, but a live bullet was later discovered. Baldwin was visibly seen crying, already grappling his own trauma.

Santa Fe County said 500 of ammunition, a mix of blanks, dummy rounds and suspected live rounds, were found while searching the set of the Western film, “Rust”.


Investigators in New Mexico where the shooting occurred have said that there was “Some Complacency” in how weapons were handled on the movie set but it’s too soon to determine whether charges will be filed.

The incident is still under active investigation.
