According to Bloomberg’s billionaires’ index, Aliko Dangote, the president of Dangote Group, has risen to the 73rd richest person in the world, with an estimated net worth of $20 billion, up from 83rd last month.
For the 11th year in a row, Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man, is the only African to make it to the top 100 list of the world’s 500 wealthiest individuals.
Following a year-to-date price increase in Dangote Cement Plc’s shares, the Nigerian billionaire’s net worth increased. According to Bloomberg, the Nigerian billionaire began 2022 on a high note after being named the world’s 97th wealthiest person in January, with a net worth of $19.2 billion.
In February, the Nigerian billionaire surpassed popular Russian businessman and Chelsea Football Club owner Roman Abramovich to become the world’s 83rd richest person, moving up from 132nd on the list of the world’s 500 richest individuals.
Johann Rupert, South Africa’s richest billionaire, finished in second at 213th place, having lost more than $1 billion since the Ukraine-Russia crisis began.
