Barcelona’s unbeaten start to the season has come to an end. Bayern Munich defeated Barcelona 2-0 in their Champions League Group C match on Tuesday, scoring twice against the run of play through Lucas Hernandez and Leroy Sane.

Barcelona dominated for 50 minutes and can only blame themselves for failing to take the lead, with Lewandowski coming close twice and Pedri and Gavi both wasting great opportunities.

Lucas Hernandez gave Bayern the lead in the 51st minute with a towering header from a well-delivered corner. Less than five minutes later, Leroy Sane took on Barcelona’s defence all by himself to break through in front of the goal and put it past Ter Stegen.

It was a disappointing return to Munich for Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski, who left the Bavarians in the summer after eight years, with the Germans currently leading their group with six points from two games.
