Legendary actor Bruce Willis has officially closed the chapter of his acting career that has spanned four decades following his battle with aphasia.

The announcement was made by Willis’ daughter Rumer Willis who made a statement on behalf of his entire family via her Instagram. 

Rumer revealed that her father was recently diagnosed with aphasia and is experiencing difficulty communicating. For this reason, she revealed that Bruce has ended his acting career to focus on his health.

“As a result of this and with much consideration Bruce is stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him,” the post read. “

Rumer also revealed that they decided to let the public know of his health diagnosis because his fans mean a lot to him.

“This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him,” the post continued.

Willis has featured in some of Hollywood’s best movies such as Die Hard, Hudson Hawk, Hostage, The Last Boy Scout and Breach among other movies.

The actor has also received several awards for his outstanding performances in various movies and also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
