Jada Pinkett Smith, Will Smith’s wife has come out to reveal that she wishes Will did not slap Chris Rock and that she does not need him to protect her.
Will who stood up for his wife at the Oscars, slapped Rock over making a joke about Jada that touched on her hair loss condition.
His actions sparked different reactions from around the globe with many happy that he stood up for his wife and put an end to Rock’s jokes directed to her. Others were unhappy that Will chose violence as a means of resolving the issue.
According to a source close to Will and Jada who spoke to People Magazine, the couple is in agreement that Will overreacted to the situation. However, unlike her husband who had her back, Jada wishes that Will did not smack Rock. She adds that she is a strong, independent woman who does not need protection.
Smith’s actions are now affecting his career despite winning an Oscar Award. Various movies that he is featuring in including Bad Boys 4 and Fast and Loose have been paused as producers wait to see how things play out.
Despite Will resigning from The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, The Academy is still moving forward with implementing the best disciplinary measure for Will. The Board of Governors is set to have a meeting to discuss Will on April 8.
