Michael Dwayne ‘Lil Wayne’ Carter, is in mourning as a former police officer that he refers to as uncle Bob, who saved him after he attempted suicide has died at 65.
The rapper shared the tragic news on his Instagram where he posted a picture of Bob followed by a heartwarming caption.
“Everything happens for a reason. I was dying when I met u at this very spot. U refused to let me die. Everything that doesn’t happen, doesn’t happen for a reason. That reason being you and faith. RIP uncle Bob. Aunt Kathie been waiting for u. I’ll love & miss u both and live for us all,” read the caption.
In an interview with Emmanuel Acho, Wayne revealed that he attempted suicide when he was 12. He shot himself in the chest and Bob together with other police officers responded to a call made by Wayne himself.
According to the ‘Drop The World’ rapper, the police officers sped past him searching the house, not acknowledging that he was on the floor on a pool of blood.
“It took a guy named uncle Bob, he ran up there, when he got to the top of the steps and saw me there, he refused to even step over me,” he revealed.
When Bob questioned the other officers as to why they ignored Wayne, they responded telling him that they called an ambulance. However, Bob refused to wait for the ambulance and rushed young Wayne to hospital himself.
Years later, Bob revealed that Wayne was grateful to him and showed his appreciation by offering him financial assistance for life if he ever needed it.
