Oscar award-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o has surprised 40 students with a $10,000 scholarship each at the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) convention.

Lupita took the stage during the ACT-SO award ceremony in Atlantic City, New Jersey where she shared her story and emphasized on the importance of education revealing that education played a huge role in helping her realize her dreams.
“Since I was a child, I have always had big dreams, and my education has played a huge part in helping me realize them,”she said.

NAACP, has partnered with beauty brand Lancôme to empower women through scholarships and literacy as well as mentoring them.
Lupita who is the brand ambassador for Lancome, revealed further that she is excited to partner with Lancôme to offer the high school students such a brilliant opportunity.

“I’ve always loved learning and I believe that learners change the world. I am so thrilled to join Lancôme, on behalf of their Write Her Future Scholarship Fund, to award this incredible group of women with these game-changing scholarships.”
Lancôme also hopes to donate a sum of $2 million by 2025 other than the $400,000 they donated together with Lupita.
