South Africa’s deceased rapper Rikhado “Riky Rick” Makhdo’s employees and business partner Sheldon Tatchell have re-launched ‘Legends Barbershop’ in honor of the late rapper’s 35thbirthday.

The Waterfall Corner barbershop was relaunched on Wednesday to honor and mark Rick’s very first heavenly birthday since he passed on in February this year.

Not only was the shop revamped, but it also offered free haircuts to the first 35 people who visited the shop, in exchange for a blanket which they gave to the less fortunate.

The blankets according to Tatchell, were handed out because Riky was a major giver at heart. Tatchell could not help but share the sweet memories he shared with Riky revealing that they first met seven years ago when Ricky gave him a haircut.

“We spoke about business and things he likes. It was intriguing that on our first interaction he was already sharing strategies on how I can grow my business. Back then, I only had two Legends Barbershop stores and Riky was already talking about how to build a successful brand,” says Tatchell.

At the time, Tatchell had two Legends shops but slowly expanded across South Africa bringing the grand total of his stores to 65.

He began working with Ricky when an opportunity presented itself for the business partners to open a store in Waterfall Corner, Midrand. Riky then told Tatchell that he wanted in on it and was fully involved in the process of building it from the ground.

“Riky was so involved with the opening of the store and often he would take a broom and sweep up the hair from the floor. He was such a humble human being and a gentle servant to everyone,” said Tatchell.
